“Exactly who is a LiceMaster?” may be one of the first questions that pop into your… head when you read about our company. The concept of a professional head lice removal service is very new to many people, and they have no idea of what to expect from our staff. The job of expert head lice remover might sound weird or gross, making folks wonder just who would be motivated to go into such an unusual profession.
Truth be told, the staff at LiceMasters are actually pretty normal. We are hard workers who take pride in our work and also appreciate our time off. We see our job as a public service position. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that LiceMasters enjoy helping people.
That’s a big part of our work, actually – soothing the troubled atmosphere that head lice infestation can bring to a home. Often we need to explain that any family can get head lice, regardless of their economic status or personal cleanliness. We encourage our customers to let go of any guilt or shame they may feel about the situation. At times like those, we seem to take on the role of a psychologist or coach.
Because so many of our clients are children, we are especially conscientious about creating a comfortable relationship with kids. Youngsters can be fearful of new experiences, particularly if they see them as mysteriously threatening. An important step in the process is when we explain what to expect from the louse removal treatment at a level your child can readily understand. (By the way, parents are very welcome to prepare little ones in advance by demonstrating the comb out procedure on their favorite doll!)
Of course, a LiceMaster must also act as a health professional, similar to a nurse or lab technician. All our staff go through a demanding training program to ensure that we become head lice treatment experts. We need an eagle eye for spotting lice and nits as well as steady hands for the delicate work of nit picking. Finally, we provide an educational service, teaching families about lice treatment and prevention. No wonder we’re proud of our work!
