What is a head louse?

What do they look like?

• Nymph
• Adult

These eggs hatch after a period of nine days. The eggs, which are closer to hatching, are located near the skin of your head.

An immature louse, which has just hatched out of the egg, is known as a Nymph. In appearance, it is similar to an adult louse but the only difference is that it is comparatively smaller. It sucks blood in order to survive and matures into an adult after nine days.

An adult can camouflage with the color of your hair because of which it is very hard to detect it. A female is larger than the male and can lay up to six eggs in a single day. The adult can last for about thirty days but dies in just two days if it falls out of your head.
